Traveling on the bike has become a very risky business nowadays, many a time people die on the roads due to not wearing the helmets, and in some cases despite wearing the helmet biker dies due to an impact, or getting crushed under the wheels of the vehicles. In this particular case though the rider was not wearing the helmet, said the sources.

According to the sources, a 23-year-old Javed Badodekar, a resident of Ramnagar in Betim, died on the spot subsequent to hit by the speeding bus near Dempo house in Panaji. But the pillion rider miraculously escaped only with minor injuries, said the sources. The accident took place at around 6.30 pm on Monday on the Dayanand Bandodkar Marg which connects the Panaji to Miramar.

The sources revealed that the pillion rider Kunal Shinde was discharged from GMC after the medication. Both the vehicles were proceeding in the direction towards KTC bus stand. According to police, the accident occurred at around 6.30 pm on Monday, said the sources.

Meanwhile, according to the statement given by the pillion rider Kunal Shinde to the Panaji police, the bus was traveling in a very high speed, and it hit the bike they were riding from behind, and dragging the bike for several meters on the road.

Panaji police said that they have registered an offense against the bus driver Ramchandra Dharwadkar for rash and negligent driving thus causing a death. The Hero Honda Passion bearing the registration number GA 06 B 4861 and the city bus bearing the registration number GA 01 T 6342, said the sources.

The buses are driven in a rash and negligent manner by the drivers due to their internal competition, which obviously results in the fatality to the smaller vehicles.
