In a deadly accident that occurred between three two-wheelers at Fatorda in south Goa on Saturday afternoon resulted into the instant death of a 22-year-old Tousif Mohammad from Gogol, Margao. According to the sources, the impact was so severe that the rider Tousif Mohammad died on the spot and the pillion rider Ms. Sardia Mantoor (18) sustained grievous injuries and admitted into Hospecio Hospital in Margao.
According to the information available from the reliable sources, Tousif Mohammad (20) resident of Gogol, Margao was proceeding towards the Margao along with the pillion rider Ms. Sardia Mantoor on the Saturday Afternoon. While his bike reached near PWD office in Fatorda, it dashed against the scooter coming from the opposite direction. According to the sources, Tousif was not wearing a Helmet while riding and due to the impact he flung on the ground and died on the spot due to severe head injuries.
The Pillion Rider, Ms. Sardia Mantoor got seriously injured in this accident and was immediately shifted to Local District Hospital in Margao. The Margao Town police told the TOI that the deceased Tousif was the resident of Housing Board Colony Gogol in Margao and was riding the bike in rash and reckless manner when he dashed against the scooter coming from the opposite direction. The scooterist was proceeding towards the Gogol to pick up his child from the school and third biker riding behind the scooter got skidded after the impact and sustained minor injuries, said the sources.
“The deceased, Tousif, a resident of Housing Board in Gogol, Margao was riding his motorcycle towards Margao and dashed against a scooter which was proceeding in the opposite direction. Tousif, who was helmetless, fell to the ground and succumbed to grievous head injuries. Pillion rider Mantoor, a resident of Navelim was seriously injured and has been admitted to Hospicio hospital, Margao. The scooter rider who was going to pick up his child from school suffered minor injuries while the third motorist who was riding a bike skidded and fell suffering minor injuries,” said the police personnel attached to Margao Town Police.
The PSI attached to Margao Town police told the Local TV Channel that, “We received the call from PCR stating that there is an accident took place near PWD office in Fatorda, we immediately deputed one of our Hawaldar and we came to know that one Mohammad Tousif died on the spot in an accident and there was a girl with him who is admitted into Hospicio Hospital in Margao in serious condition.”
According to the sources, the incident took place at around 1.10 pm in the afternoon on Saturday. The police said that the body of deceased Tousif Mohammad has been sent to Local District Hospital where it is preserved for the purpose of postmortem which will be performed on Sunday. “Tousif’s body has been preserved at the Hospicio hospital morgue. The post mortem will be performed on Sunday. An offence has been registered under Section 304 (A) for culpable homicide and 279 for rash and negligent driving against the deceased Tousif. Hawaldar Rosario Dias conducted the panchanama and is further investigating the case.”
