Court orders search of defence minister’s residence to hunt Pacheco

The South Goa JMFC Bosco Roberts has ordered the police to issue a search warrant to search the official residence of defence minster at 10 Akbar Road, New Delhi to trace the absconding minister Mickky Pacheco who appears to be taken a rescue there according to the information provided by Advocate Aires Rodregues in the open court room. During the course of hearing, the Judge asked Adv Rodrigues to throw light on 10 Akbar Road and the lawyer replied that it is the official residence of the Union Defense Minister, bursting laughter in the court room.

While ordering issuance of the search warrant to the Colva PI, Judge Roberts advised the police to carry out the search in accordance with due process of law. Meanwhile judge Roberts also issued fresh non-bailable warrant against Mickky Pacheco returnable next hearing on Monday. The fresh warrant issued by the court on account of expiry of the previous warrant today. The court has rejected the plea of Colva police to issue a proclamation against Pacheco and instead issued a fresh warrant of arrest returnable on April 27. Observing that protecting an offender is a cognizable offence under section 216 of IPC, Rodrigues alleged the prosecution and police are colluding with Pacheco and instead of diligently executing the arrest warrant they have in connivance and collusion been shielding Pacheco in total disrespect and contempt of the court.

The order came after Rodrigues submitted to the court that there was “information” that Pacheco was “hiding” at 10 Akbar Road. “The order does not mention name of Parrikar but the address is that of his,” said social activist and lawyer Aires Rodrigues who had petitioned the court against delay by police in tracking down Pacheco. Meanwhile the Goa chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar said they will challenge the court order.  “We will challenge the court order which has issued a warrant to search residence of Parrikar,” he told media, adding the opinion of the Advocate General has been sought on this issue.

According to the infroation provided by the Colva police to the court all the three cell phones used by Mickky Pacheco are coming switched off. In its submission, the police said that Mickky’s whereabouts are not known since April 10, the day he had checked out from Hotel Royal Plaza at 19 Ashoka Road, Delhi. The police also also claimed that the Mickky has not returned to Goa by any means of transport including Air, Rail or Road till April 21st 2015. The Colva police also submitted that they are in touch with Mickky’s wife and they halso recorded her detailed statement in which she had informed the police that she is also not aware about the present position of her Husband.
