Reportedly around 150 villagers had taken the part in the meeting with the police officials. Their main agenda was to tackle the issue of teenage gang comprising of around 30 teenagers involved into the antisocial activates and the same needed to be dealt with the iron hand. The SDPO dySP Tavares assured the villagers that he will handle the gang and provide the relief to the villagers and he needs the time of one month to resolve it. “After a month I will do a follow-up,” he added.

According to the sources, Tavares also informed that he has already issued directions to the Canacona police to carry out intensive patrolling to put a halt to anti-social activities. He also stressed on the issue of complaints according to him people are not coming forward to lodge the complaints and that makes the task of police more difficult. He said that public needs to support the police by coming forward and lodging the complaints against the culprits.

Another shocking fact has revealed in this case. According to the sources, people of Canacona do not have the police outpost which they have been demanding for a long time. Mr. Tavaris stated that the work of police outpost will take little longer since it entirely depends on the government sanctions. However, he said that if two rooms are provided a ‘Police out Post’ can be set up on a priority with at least three policemen.

Meanwhile, when media asked him about the existing sex racket and drugs issue in the state he said that Goa being the tourism place such things bound to happen but if people come out and provide the proper information to the police then the problems can be solved within no time.

This is not the first time that peoples of Canacona raised their voice against the illegal activities that is going on the town but apparently no strict action has been initiated by the police or government in this case as yet. Hope this time Mr. Tavares becomes the savior of the people of Canacona and finishes this gang nuisance as soon as possible. We will keep you updated as it takes place in this case.
