High Cement Speed Breakers Were Constructed on the Dabolim Highway Without Any Prior Legal Permission From the Concerned Authorities Causing Fatal Accidents With Nearly Killing Two People.

Speaking to Goa Prism Prominent Social Worker and activist Tara Kerkar confirmed that upon her investigation she found that the speed breakers on Dabolim highway were constructed illegally by the GSIDC, for which she then gave a written complaint to a collector who brought the issue to the notice of authorities.

The Highway Road officer, however, did not take any immediate action on the matter. The negligence and delay in the removal of speed breakers caused two people serious injuries and losses to their vehicles.

TARA KERKAR TALKING TO THE GSIDC AUTHORITIES

As per the Indian road guidelines, Speed Breakers are necessary to be used only in Urban areas, on minor roads, and residential areas. They are not recommended on high-speed roads or highways outside urban limits. Despite this, there were speed breakers illegally constructed on Dabolim Highway.

Although after a lot of complaints the Speed Breakers have finally been removed. Does the question still remain that how can people construct speed breakers with the legal bodies having no knowledge about it? Why was there a delay in the removal of the speed breakers when early action could have prevented the accidents? What are your views on this?
