According to newsd, Vishwajit Rane, who featured in a controversial audio clip where he says that files linked to the Rafale deal are in Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar’s bedroom, has been threatened with harm by top BJP leaders, alleged A Chella Kumar. He stated that Rane met him a day before he quit Congress and told Chella Kumar about these threats he received for him and his family.

I have never heard of anybody being threatened to join the BJP. This may be a part of Congress culture… What Chella Kumar is talking is rubbish and insane. It is only sheer frustration on the part of Chella Kumar

According to NDTV, Kumar stated that Vishwajit Rane said “‘They are after my family, they are after my life. That is the reason I (Vishwajit) am staying there’. He has told me many times. He has been calling me regularly for a year… I am ready to undergo any test. I am not telling any lies.”

He continued saying that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah had been intimidating Rane. These threats forced Rane to quit the Congress Party and join Bharatiya Janata Party in order to protect himself and his family.

Rane put the blame on Congress leadership, in particular, accused Digvijay Singh, All India Congress Committee general secretary and Goa in-charge, for not moving fast enough to stake a claim for forming the government.

“I want to save my family’. This is what he told me 24 hours before leaving the party.” Mr Kumar said.

Responding to these statements, Vishwajit Rane said “I have never heard of anybody being threatened to join the BJP. This may be a part of Congress culture… What Chella Kumar is talking is rubbish and insane. It is only sheer frustration on the part of Chella Kumar.” Rane calls these allegations “speaking rubbish”, thus trying to portray that they do not hold any truth.

They are after my family, they are after my life. That is the reason I am staying there’. He has told me many times. He has been calling me regularly for a year… I am ready to undergo any test. I am not telling any lies

Rane quit the Congress party on March 2017 and also resigned from the assembly to protest against the Congress leadership’s failure to form the government in Goa even after emerging the single largest party in the assembly polls. He said his induction in the BJP was “unconditional” and he could contest the by-poll to get re-elected for the development of his constituency.

According to Livemint, along with Rane, the entire Congress committee of Valpoi constituency resigned and joined the BJP. He also walked out during the floor test, thus reducing the Congress strength from 17 to 16 in the 40-member Goa assembly.

Rane put the blame on Congress leadership, in particular, accused Digvijay Singh, All India Congress Committee general secretary and Goa in-charge, for not moving fast enough to stake a claim for forming the government. Digvijay Singh hit back, accusing Rane of hobnobbing with the BJP right from the beginning.

The 47-year-old Rane was the first MLA to resign from Congress just after Parrikar won the trust vote in 2017.  According to Times of India, He has now dubbed the real player behind the scenes.

Congress lost two MLAs which proved to blow for their political arena. These allegations may or may not be a stunt to bring down the reputation of the BJP party.
