The politics in Goa has reached the stage where any kind of attacks considered to be a part of the game. Lately, Goa’s chief minister Manohar Parrikar had become the target of all kind of criticism, and all his actions been looked from the angle of his selfishness.

Citing him as a power-hungry, the opposition started asking him to vacate the position of CM and make way for someone more capable, but Mr. Parrikar did not give up and decided to make a public appearance on Sunday by way of visiting the third Mandovi bridge to inspect the ongoing work. This action of CM leads to a massive uproar on the social media. Let us take a look at the scenario.

Some called his first public appearance after his return from AIIMS (The All India Institutes of Medical Sciences) Delhi as pre-planned photoshoot while others supported him by appreciating his efforts and courage to come out despite of his severe illness. Perhaps both the sides may be right from their own point of view.

According to the Times Now News the ailing Goa chief minister, Manohar Parrikar made a rare public appearance on Sunday and inspected the construction of the third Mandovi Bridge in Panjim. Parrikar, who has been suffering from a pancreatic ailment for a while now, had a tube inserted in his nose and reportedly had to be supported while walking.

It is easy to criticize but, very difficult to understand the pain and suffering one is going through. Mr. Parrikar, besides being a politician, is also a human being and we do not know under what circumstances he is doing all the efforts which are beyond the capacity of any normal human being. In any case, he does deserve a little bit of a compassion from all of us.

There is petition filed by the former Goa Forward member Trajano D’mello in the high court seeking the medical report of Mr. Parrikar due to his no public appearance for the past six months and perhaps that lead Mr. Parrikar to make his short public appearance to tell the people of Goa that he is still capable of doing his duties.

Meanwhile, the criticism by the Omar Abdullah, a former CM of J&K, on his twitter handle had lead to another controversy. According to Mr. Abdullah, Mr. Parrikar has a tube inserted through his nose into his digestive tract. How inhumane to force him to continue working & doing photo ops. Why can’t he be allowed to deal with his illness without all this pressure & tamasha?

Another tweet by Priyanka Chaturvedi, Convenor of AICC Communication and a National Spokesperson, Is that a tube that is inserted in his nose? Can a party be so power hungry to make a man work despite his illness? With BJP impossible is nothing….to grab power, latch on to power. Take care CM Saab, because clearly, your party won’t.

The BJP had called all the above comments on the social media inhuman and blamed the Congress for politicizing the issue of Chief Minister’s health. According to the India Today Priti Gandhi, a senior leader in the BJP Mahila Morcha, thought Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar’s inspections of two Goa bridges on Sunday were the “perfect example of dedication and commitment”.

It is very difficult to narrow down to any concussion at the moment or till Mr. Parrikar does not make any public appearance in a form or either television or social media and talk to the people of Goa assuring them that he is capable of taking care of the day to day administration of Goa.
