In one of the shocking incident CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) on Wednesday raided the office and residence of passport officer Agnelo Fernandes. The reason behind these raid is not yet known but according to the available sources, raids were conducted at his residence in Nuvem and office in Panaji patto area simultaneously. The sources said that the raids were going on till late night.

The passport office in Panaji is one of the busiest hubs in the city for the people desiring to travel aboard and at any given time it is full packed with applicants. There are numerous complaints about the problems faced by the applicants while trying to gain the appointment online. It is also not the hidden fact that the passport office of Goa has always been a center of attraction due to regular harassments of the people who visits the passport office for making their passport. In spite of the transparent online facility made available for online application, getting an appointment with the officer is highly difficult. Where all this things points at?

ADVERTISE APPEAL BANNER

According to the sources more than 100 foreign liquor bottles, foreign currency and huge amount of INR seized from his residence in the raid. The prevention of corruption act is added in the offence along with other sections of IPC. It was difficult to get the details or comments from CBI or Fernandes on this issue as neither of them were ready to speak anything.

If you have visited passport office anytime you would be able to judge the situation better over here. When the powers are vested in the people sometimes they make misuse of the same for their personal benefits but they always forget that the road which they are travelling does not lead anywhere except in the clutch of the law. Please do leave your valuable comments and suggestions on this issue.
