The word ‘HALAL’ is not new to the people who eat meat. But do you know what does the Halal means? According to the sources, the Halal is an organization which allows the certifications to the places that sell the meat. It is considered to be an unofficial certification given by the Muslim clerics to the meat shops.

Many slaughter houses or the supermarkets in the town display the boards of HALAL very proudly since it is in fashion and ‘HALAL’ meat is considered to be a sacrificial and authenticated. The Muslim community does not dine in the restaurants that do not serve the HALAL meat. According to the sources, the word halal means “done the Islamic way”. Most of us believe that the word halal is connected with just food but the reality is completely different. There are many certification companies in the world, like FDA for drugs, FSSAI for foods in India, halal is actually an unofficial certification given by the Muslim clerics to the meat shops. Anything that can be called Islamic or exactly opposite of Haram can be called Halal.

According to the sources, the Halal certification is not just any other certification but it is a very big syndicate spread across the world. This also considered to be a monopolize business by the Muslim community in various countries across the globe. Although there are rumors that the funds gathered from this certification has been used for the terrorist activities but that is not the truth.

According to the reports, this business has spread across the globe and minting money as the people from the Muslim community does not eat any other meat but the Halal. There are many misconceptions about the Halal business. Many calls it the source of funds for the terrorism but it not correct as there are no pieces of evidence of the money earned from the Halal certification had been used for funding the terrorism, says the sources.

Pauline Hanson, the Founder of an organization ‘Fact Check’, told the media that Halal is nothing but a money making racket. “It is a profit money-making racket. The money goes into Islamic organizations and has been connected to the Muslim Brotherhood in France and actually also in Canada. The Muslim Brotherhood is not a listed terrorist organization in Australia, but Ms. Hanson has made similar claims that explicitly link halal certification, the Muslim Brotherhood, and terrorism. “It’s estimated it’s a $3 trillion industry and this money can go to mosques, Islamic schools and it’s even estimated that it can go to terrorism,” she said.

The Thomson Reuters work has been quoted in research by international accounting firm PwC and by the Statistical, Economic, and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries, a subsidiary of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation. The Federal Government’s trade body Austrade cites 2012 Malaysian research that estimated the value of the halal food industry globally at between $US600 billion and $US2.1 trillion.

One Nation founder Pauline Hanson claims that halal certification is a $3 trillion industry that funds Islamic organizations and terrorist. But the Australian Government did not support the claims made by Pauline and given their verdict as Ms. Hanson’s estimate of a $3 trillion industry conflates the value of the global food market with the value of the halal certification market. While the proceeds of halal certification do fund Islamic organizations, Fact Check could find no evidence money has ever flowed to terrorist groups. Ms. Hanson’s claim doesn’t check out. When FactCheck questioned Muhammad Khan, CEO of Halal Australia about the money trail, he denied funding terrorist organizations and said Halal Australia donates some of its profits to Islamic schools and mosques as part of its broader community engagement program.
