The cases of prostitution are on the rise in Goa with every second day someone getting caught by the police. Just a few days back in the last week two sex rackets were busted by the Goa police out of which one was in Calangute and another in Colva. The reason behind the increase of flesh trade in Goa is said to the tourism. Many a time several ministers claimed that since Goa is tourism destination it is bound to happen. In fact, one of the highly placed people in the state is in favor of legalizing the flesh trade. Here is the detailed report on the flesh trade in Goa.
In another case on May 28, An Agra native 28-year-old girl was rescued while she was waiting for her prospective customer that was a police decoy near the beachside. PI Dattaguru Sawant said that the girl is a regular traveler to Goa for the past three years. The sleuths have found out from the continuous raids on this illegal trade that the main dealers or the main person who handles this deal have stopped accompanying victims to the venue where the customers are called.
In the month of April, one of the online sex rackets was busted by the Goa Police with the help of Goa-based NGO ARZ (Anyway Rahit Zindagi). In this case, the sex racket was operated by the lady pimp named Tanya Sharma from her place in Nagoa Goa. Here after getting the information from ARZ police planted the decoy and managed to get hold of the culprit.
Based on the available information the Crime Branch of Goa Police managed to crack the online prostituting racket with the help of NGO Anyay Rahit Zindagi (ARZ) and rescued four women and arrested the lady pimp who was running the entire operation from Nagoa in North Goa. Police managed to nab the main culprit Tanya and rescued four girls hail from Chandigarh, Punjab, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan respectively.
On Tuesday 31st May Calangute police busted another prostituting racket at Candolim. According to the report published in Times of India, Goa police raided the place in Candolim on Tuesday night after getting the lead and arrested three pimps hailing from Orissa and Andhra Pradesh and rescued a 31-year women from the flesh trade. Although according to the reports police did not manage to get hold of the main accused that is said to be absconding from the scene.
According to the Calangute police, they took the action after receiving the information that the girls were brought to one resort in Candolim for the purpose of flesh trade. Accordingly police laid the trap and managed to catch the culprits. Calangute police led by police inspector Tushar Vernekar raided the resort and arrested the alleged accused Santosh Kumar, Gokul Pradhan, both from Orissa, and Sunil Kumar from Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday night. Santosh Kumar was employed as a receptionist at the hotel and was the main conduit for the sex racket, police said adding that the main pimp, Raj, is still absconding.
The business of prostitution is booming due to the demand from the tourist and to certain locals too. Many Indian tourists, especially those who come in the groups, seek for these services while in Goa and it not the hidden fact anymore.
