But as per the news published by the PTI news agency, The AAP (Aam Admi Party) has mentioned in their statement that, their party will not compromise on the credibility of the candidates they are planning to instill for the 2017 Goa Assembly Polls.
The AAP national secretary Pankaj Gupta was speaking with the media in the city said that “Even after selecting a candidate, if we find out that there are serious charges against him or her, we will not mind keeping the seat vacant or withdrawing the candidature. But, no compromise will be made on the credibility of candidates,” said Mr. Gupta.
The Aam Admi Party is already in process of getting their campaign in place with the help of national convener of AAP Shri. Arvind Kejriwal, who is stationed in the town for quite some time to promote the party image in Goa, “The process of finalizing the candidates has already begun for all the 40 Assembly seats and the first list would be announced around the first week of September,” said Gupta adding that Names of all the candidates would be announced by the end of October and the AAP would be the first national party to do so for the Goa polls.”
Here is a very interesting process that AAP is following while appointing the candidates in the state according to which the volunteers appointed by them will be the one who will be actually recommending the names of the candidates for the forthcoming polls and the same will be placed before the party screening for the final recommendations. “The screening committee will zero in on three to five names which would be forwarded to the national political affairs committee which will announce the names of the candidates,” said Mr. Gupta.
Gupta asserted that the candidates would be chosen “strictly” from the list submitted by AAP volunteers. “Any candidate with corruption charges or a criminal background will never be given a poll tickets,” he said. Although finding the corruption free candidate in today’s standard will be like looking for a needle in a haystack, but AAP seems like have accepted this challenge. Only the time will tell what will be the outcome of their claims. Till then please do share your comments and suggestions on this issue.
