A CALANGUTE BASED BUSINESSMAN DEALING IN THE FOREIGN EXCHANGE HAD BEEN BRUTALLY STABBED BY THE PERSON KNOWN TO HIM NEAR MANDOVI BRIDGE. THE SOURCES REVEALED THAT THE ATTACK TOOK PLACE OVER THE BUSINESS RIVALRY BETWEEN BOTH OF THEM. THE ACCUSED IS SAID TO BE ABSCONDING AT THE MOMENT.
The condition of the victim is said to be very critical at the moment and he is undergoing a treatment at GMC (Goa Medical College) at Bambolim. The name of the victim has been revealed as Sanjay Palyekar a resident of Calangute.
The attack on Palyekar took place at around 11.30 pm on Wednesday near Mandovi bridge, and the formal complaint in this regards has been filed by his wife, Mrs. Aparna Palyekar, in the police station, against the accused named Anthony Rodrigues from Mapusa. The police said that the accused Anthony who is absconding presently.
According to the victim’s wife, Mrs. Aparna Palyekar, the accused stabbed her husband several times thus causing grievous injuries to him. She also told the media that the accused person is known to them prior to the incident.
“The accused has a business of travel situated in Calangute. At around 10 pm on Wednesday, the accused Anthony called My husband on the pretext of currency exchange and asked him to come down near Mandovi bridge and when my husband reached there with the foreign currency of 1.95 lakh, the accused attacked him with the sharp weapon and fled with the cash,” she told the media.
According to Mrs. Paleykar, the attack was pre planned, and the accused made use of the available opportunity for looting the victim. According to her, the accused stabbed her husband brutally. “He attacked my husband with the knife injuring him severely. He stabbed on his neck, head, and back,” she added.
According to the sources, the victim is a well-known businessman of Calangute and he has a very good reputation around. “The accused came with the plan of robbing my husband,” said the victim’s wife but when inquired with her about the existence of any financial dealings, she said that she has the text messages of the accused who was demanding the money from her husband.
The situation looks to be very complicated here, and until the accused gets arrested the other side of the story will not get surfaced. But, despite all the facts, the attack is highly condemnable, and the accused will have to pay for it.
