Six days a week, Cafe Chocolatti serves the most interesting goodies in a beautiful landscaped garden on the Aguada road. Nazneen and Ricardo Rebelo have created an environment for lounging, relaxing and nibbling on light goodies for a refreshing break. Sandwiches, salads, crepes and desserts – take your pick with light lounge music playing in the background. The staff is smartly attired in T-shirts, bandanas and aprons. One has a choice of the Smoked Chicken Sandwich or maybe the Italian Sandwich. Nazneen’s Tuna Quiche is another traditional delight. The bite is soft and crunchy too when the sweet corn makes its presence felt. But if someone wants something light, try the Cous Cous Salad…the hidden flavour of lime, chilli, mint and coriander lingers on after every morsel. But remember to keep room for the dessert delights.

The Double Chocolate Brownie, double the trouble, but then it is proven that chocolate is good for health and mind you there is a double dose added to this preparation. But there is an ample choice too in that section. The Orange Marmalade and Chocolate Brownie! The peel of the orange zest adds its own statement in the bite. Try the Chocolate Walnut Brownie too…you could go nutty with the taste. And with a wide range of coffee and tea a must have is the Almond Biscotti. The crispy thin Italian biscuit with almonds is a perfect nibble to that refreshing beverage.

Snuggled in a lush walled garden on the Fort Aguada road in Candolim, Café Chocolatti is a paradise for English treats and other global favourites. Away from the beach, yet, set in the midst of the tourist bustle,  this elegant café offers a charming haven from the busy street just outside its garden walls. The main facade which houses the reception, the kitchen behind it and the shop, overlooks the verdant graden. Flowering and tropical fruit trees conceal the café space from the chaos outside. Seating is simple and elegant, in an alfresco setting- with well spaced out tables under garden umbrellas.

Besides its delecatble desserts, a highlight here is the English cream tea offered all day that features the freshly baked scones served with homemade strawberry jam, crafted of locally available fruit. Another house favourite is the all-day Breakfast menu, served with typical English accompaniments like baked beans, bacon, sausages, fried tomato and mushrooms. The café’ additionally serves up light meals and salads, featuring popular plates such as Falafal, Thai salad, waffles and an assortment of French style crepes, both sweet and salty. The menu offers dedicated sections for Salads, Quiches and Paninis made with freshly baked ciabatta.

One cannot leave that garden without taking back a bite for remembrance – the Chocolatti Special; it is a moist dense chocolate cake with its rich chocolate frosting. Like a child in a candy store you might be tempted to say…goody…goody…goody.
