As the by-polls approaching closer, the Goan politics have started showing the signs of the jungle raj in the state. The politicians are doing everything to turn Goa into UP and Bihar. The greed for power is making them forget all the ethics and principles.
The former Shiroda Congress MLA, Subhash Shirodkar had lately entered into the BJP camp for so-called development of constituency seems to be feeling insecure and hence he do not want anyone to campaign against him in Shiroda.
According to the NDTV reports, a lady Congress worker, Ms. Diya Shetkar had the complaint of threat from Subhash Shirodkar’s supporters.
She claimed that The unidentified caller allegedly used “abusive and vulgar language” while threatening her with gangrape if she campaigns against Shirodkar in the Shiroda Constituency.
In a police complaint, Diya Shetkar, who is the Goa Pradesh Mahila Congress state secretary, said she received a call on Sunday morning who claimed to be Mr. Shirodkar’s supporter. The unidentified caller also allegedly used “abusive and vulgar language” while threatening her with gang rape.
Further, Ms. Shetkar also alleged that she was warned by the Shirodkar’s supporters to not enter into Shiroda constituency. “To harass a woman, Shirodkar’s supporters have stooped so low to threaten me of gangrape,” she told news agency ANI.
“They threatened me that I would get gang-raped If I came to Shiroda again and they warned me not to visit Subhash Shirodkar’s area again,” she said in her complaint, The Times Now reported.
According to the reports, Diya Shetkar had appealed the police to take this matter seriously and initiate action against the culprits.
It seems that Ms. Shetkar who is a lawyer by profession had earlier campaigned against him in Shiroda.
Mr. Shirodkar who is presently preparing for the by-polls has not come out with the rebuttal statement against the allegations.
This threatening needs to be taken seriously by the police as well as the voters. We have to make sure that these politicians do not turn our beautiful Goa into UP and Bihar for their personal gains. Mr. Shirodkar who entered BJP on the pretext of development of constituency is presently holding the chairmanship of EDC (Economic Development Corporation)
