A youth from Dicarpale in south Goa was brutally assaulted by the local bar owner Avinash on Monday following the argument that took place between them at a Ros-Omelet stall in Dicarpale. Goa police after facing the rage of villagers finally managed to arrest the accused Avinash Gunjikar today afternoon. What exactly happened that day? Here is the complete report.

[su_expand more_text=”READ MORE” less_text=” ” height=”0″ hide_less=”yes” link_style=”button” link_align=”center”] According to the available information from the reliable sources, the entire episode started with the heated argument between the football player Jason Vales and the local bar owner Avinash Gunjikar at the Ros-Omelet stall at Dicarpale. This later culminated into the assault of the football player Vales.

According to the police report, following the argument between the duo, the accused Avinash armed with Hokey stick attacked the Vales and brutally assaulted him. Police have also quoted that this argument and fight took place due to the existence of earlier enmity between them.

The situation turned wild when the villagers block the road in the remonstration of attack. They started demanding the immediate arrest of the accused Avinash. When the situation become tense police forced to resort to the lathi-charge to bring the situation under control said the sources.

However, it was not easy for the small team of police to handle the big mob that went on a rampage destroying a two-wheeler by setting it ablaze and overturned two four wheelers belonging to accused. They also ransacked the bar and damaged the property belonging to the family of the accused.

The police sources also revealed that one police constable got seriously injured in this agitation. The agitated crowd blocked the main road crippling the entire traffic from Margao to Quepem for almost two hours. The crowd was demanding the immediate arrest of Avinash. The police officers and sub-divisional magistrate rushed to the spot to pacify the crowd. Police inspector Harish Madkaiker, DySP Dinraj Goveker and Sub-divisional Magistrate Ajit Panchawader along with a police force rushed to the site and tried to pacify the people, however, they were not in a mood to comply.

The police and other authorities tried their best but the situation worsened further as the agitated people stuck to their demand of Avinash’s arrest. PI Madkaiker said that the case is being investigated and some persons have been interrogated, adding proper action will be taken.
