In another development that took place in the minor victim’s rape case today, the beleaguered St. Cruz MLA Babush Monseratte and the rape victim’s stepmother have been sent to four days police custody by Sessions court Panaji. This is the third time both the accused produced before the court and remanded back into the police custody. What exactly happening in this case. Read the complete report here.

[su_expand more_text=”READ MORE” less_text=” ” height=”0″ hide_less=”yes” link_style=”button” link_align=”center”] As reported by the Goa Prism reporter, Taleigao strongman and St. Cruz MLA, Babush Monserrate who is involved in the alleged rape case of a minor girl was produced before the Seasons court today for the further remand along with the stepmother of victim girl who has been accused of selling her daughter to Babush for Rs. 50 Lakh has sent back into the police custody for another four days by the sessions court Panaji today.

Today court did not hear any arguments besides asking the main accused Babush Monseratte whether he is facing any kind of harassment in the police custody to which he nodded negatively. The lawyers of both the accused were present in the court at that time.

The counsel of victim’s stepmother Adv. Dhond demanded an inquiry into the alleged leaking of the sensitive information into the media. Although when the judge asked him to bring the proof of the records that he could not manage to do so.

Babush Monseratte, the main accused in this case spoke to the media first time after he was sent to the custody. He told the media that he is innocent and he has conspired into this case. He said that he will stick to his statement that ‘He is innocent’.

He also said that he is not filing for the bail application since he wants to wait till the investigation completes. “Once the investigation is completed I will apply for the bail and after getting the bail I will call for the press conference and speak to the media. I will tell everything in the present conference,” he said. “But till then I request you people to remain patience and not do the ‘backstabbing’,” he added quoting the example of Afzal Khan and Shivaji.

Meanwhile, there are allegations that, most of the time is being consumed by the investigation team in various medical tests of the accused and there is no development into the actual investigation of this case. The counsel of  accused on earlier occasions had already alleged in front of the media saying that police is not doing a proper investigation and taking his client to various medical tests.

Perhaps after another four days, the picture would get clearer as which direction the entire investigation is going on. Till then you can leave your comments on this issue.
