It looks like soon the Congress will become 17 once again with Babush Monseratte is contemplating the possibility of joining the Congress again. After the Valpoi MLA deserted the Congress over the issue of the inability of them forming the government despite being the single largest party in the state. Babush always had a dream of contesting the election against the stalwart politician of Goa Shri Manohar Parrikar and it looks like the dream of Mr. Monseratte will soon going to come true.

Although there is no guarantee that he will win from Panaji against Bhai, but if he wins then Congress will come back to their original number of 17 and there is a possibility of Congress forming the next government in the state, since, in case Parrikar does not remain the CM of Goa the existing alliance will break. These are all the speculations and will be possible only if Babush wins the seat from Panaji.

It may be recalled that Babush had let go his dream of winning the Panaji seat in the last elections due to the very small margin of around 1000 odd votes which according to him, belonged to the minority community and the same were shared by the AAP candidate for Panaji. The sources have revealed that the Panaji MLA, Siddharth Kuncolienkar may vacate the Panaji seat for Mr. Parrrikar who is the existing CM of Goa and according to the EC guidelines he has to become the MLA within 6 months time to continue as CM of Goa.

Babush Monseratte is waiting for that moment and this time he is sure of winning the Panaji seat which he lost in the last election. “I am free to join any party, so I will join the Congress to contest the by-polls from Panaji,” Monserrate told TOI, adding that he was hopeful of a win despite not having a full-fledged team to work for him in the constituency. “Although I didn’t have a team to work for me in the run-up to the February 4 assembly elections, I lost by a small margin,” he said.

Babush asserted on the support of the minority community citing that he sure of winning this time. “I am very much certain of winning the support of the constituency’s minority community, who had voted for the AAP in last month’s assembly election,” said Mr. Moneratte. He exuded the confidence of defeating Parrikar in the forthcoming by-polls.”It was the minority community that voted the AAP, a move it is now regretting,” he said.
