Babush Monseratte who was in the police custody for past 11 days has finally granted the conditional bail by the sessions court Panaji today. Babush Monseratte, the St. Cruz MLA and Taleigao strongman who is facing the charges of buying a minor girl for rupees 50 lakh and allegedly raping her at his Taleigao farmhouse after spiking her drink has been released by the District Sessions Court today on certain conditions. The media speculation claims that his release came in the backdrop of feeble police investigations wherein they were unable to establish the charges. Read the complete report here.

The court already heard Monseratte’s argument on Monday and the matter was kept for the orders today. Additional sessions judge Pramod Kamat who is also holding the charge of children’ court granted the conditional bail to Babush Monseratte in the alleged rape case of a minor girl.

All the speculations were pointing towards his release today by the court and hence it may not come as a surprise to many. It was very much evident that investigation team had left many loopholes in this case which finally paved the way for his release.

After his arrest on 5th May 2016, Babush did not apply for the bail. His lawyer told the media on several occasions that they are not going to apply for the bail till the investigations complete. But on Saturday Babush decided to file the bail application while the investigation was still on the halfway.

According to the Goa Prism staff reporter, the bail was granted to Babush on the condition of rupees 1 lakh bail bond and a similar amount of surety, Judge also asked Babush to submit his passport to the court. Babush will have to appear before the Panaji police for next 7 days between 3pm to 5pm daily.

Both the ladies accused have also been granted the bail on the bail bond of Rs. 25000 each and the same amount of sureties. We will keep you updated with the more development as it takes place. Meanwhile, you can leave you comments on this issue.
