Apparently, a group of migrants from the Zuarinagar staged the armed attack on a restaurant in Old Goa for a petty reason of not providing the finger bowl. Old Goa Police managed to arrest the four and rest of the accused are still absconding.

In another case of people taking to armed attacks to resolve rivalries four persons were arrested in Old Goa for rioting and assault in an Old Goa restaurant

Could a small issue of not providing a finger bowl be the cause of an armed attack on a restaurant?  Apparently, one such case transpired in an Old Goa restaurant on June 29.

According to the Navhind Times, four persons allegedly damaged articles of a restaurant and assaulted and threatened the workers.

According to Old Goa Police Inspector, Jivba Dalvi, the incident occurred on Wednesday evening and a complaint was filed by Anil Poojari.

According to the Police report, 12 unknown persons, armed with dandas damaged the restaurant.  They also threatened the workers and complainants’ brother.

According to this source, Old Goa police have arrested four persons so far. They have been identified as Limbaji Lamani (20), Pravin Jadhav (20), Maruti Lamani (29) and Pravin Chavan (22) from Zuarinagar and the surrounding area of Mormugao.

However, Dalvi informed that the police had identified more persons involved in the attack and are on the lookout for them.

On investigations, the police suspect that the motive could be due to revenge as some of the accused had an argument with the restaurant staff for not providing finger bowls.
