Despite regular arrests of the people involved in the flesh trade business in Goa, there is no control over it. The flesh trade mafia does not seem to have the fear of law and police. Otherwise, we would not have a news every second day about the prostitution activities in the state. The police really need to do a lot of exercises to catch the culprits and rescue the girls. [su_expand more_text=”READ MORE” less_text=” ” height=”0″ hide_less=”yes” link_style=”button” link_align=”center”] According to the news report published by TNN, Three persons involved in the flesh trade had been arrested and four women been rescued in two separate complaints filed at Panaji Women’s police station and Margao town police station under various sections of the Prevention of Immoral Traffic Act. All the arrest has been carried out by police on Saturday said the sources.
The PI of Women Police station Loveleen Dias told the media that, the police took action against the culprits on the tip of an informer, about the prostitution activity going on in a Hotel at Per Serulim in South Goa. “Armed with the description provided of the 34-year-old accused Ajay Jalte of Ulhasnagar-Mumbai, they rushed to the site and conducted a raid. The victim, a native of Maharashtra has now been sheltered at Apna Ghar. The accused has been arrested under Section 370 (ii) IPC as well as Sections 4, 5, 6, 7 of the Prevention of Immoral Traffic Act,” Dias said.
Similar complaint was registered at the Margao Town police station after a raid conducted by Margao Town PI Chetan Patil at Maddel-Margao on Saturday, at around 4.30pm. The police rescued three women, aged between 20-30 years, all from Kolkatta and arrested two persons – 35-year-old Maruti Mane of Verna and 58-year-old Maria D’Costa of Maddel-Margao – both under Section 370 (ii) IPC as well as Sections 4, 5, 6, and 7 of the Prevention of Immoral Traffic Act.
Coming back to the incident at the capital city of Goa, PANAJI, the Women police station of crime branch on Saturday busted an online prostitution racket and rescued six girls and arrested three pimps in the case. The arrested accused are, Dinesh Mandal, 29, a resident of Kolkata, Chunchun Kumar Singh, 23, from Bihar and Santabahadur Chettri, 38, from Nepal in the case and rescued girls from Mumbai, Delhi, Chandigarh and West Bengal.
With the above incident, one thing becomes very clear that most of the people involved in the flesh trade are from the outside Goa and a major chunk of it comes from North and East of India. The law which is made for the prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act has many loopholes due to which the accused, as well as the victim, goes scot free no sooner they get caught and get back to their usual business once again. This is the waste of time of the government machinery which can be utilized elsewhere to curb the bigger crimes. Think over this since it is the need of a day.
