ANOTHER DEADLY ACCIDENT IN VASCO DA GAMA. GOA – TWO YOUTH DIED ON THE SPOT IN A SELF ACCIDENT ON SHANTINAGAR HIGHWAY

TWO YOUTH WERE TRAVELLING ON A BIKE IN THE EARLY MORNING OF TUESDAY. THEY WERE PROCEEDING TOWARDS DABOLIM FROM SHANTINAGAR  THE HIGHWAY. BOTH WERE RIDING WITHOUT HELMETS, AND APPARENTLY AT A VERY FAST SPEED DUE TO WHICH THEY COULD NOT SEE THE TRUCK PARKED ON THE SIDE OF A ROAD AND RAMMED INTO IT.

Both the youth died on the spot and the impact caused the scooter get completely crushed in the accident. The accident supposes to have happened in wee hours of the Tuesday, said the sources. The locals are blaming the trucks and other vehicles parked along the side of the highway in the night time due to which the accident took place.

According to the sources, both the youth were traveling on their Honda Activa scooter, on Tuesday early morning, when they met with an accident on Shantinagar highway, in Vasco Da Gama. The sources have said that they rammed into the truck parked on the side of the road. The death occurred instantly due to the huge impact.

Immediately after the incident, a huge crowd gathered on the accident spot agitating against the irresponsibly parked trucks and other vehicles parked on the side of the national highway which is not permitted and usually causes an accident.

The counselor of Marmugao Municipal Corporation Krishna Daji Salkar, who was present on the accident spot, told the media that this is the second an accident that took place in this location. “According to my knowledge, this is the second case of an accident on the same spot due to parked trucks on the highway. Parking the vehicles on the national highway is illegal, and always proves fatal,” he said adding that due to low visibility during the night time the accidents take place. 

BOTH THE YOUTH DIED ON THE SPOT IN AN ACCIDENT

Other residents of that area alleged that despite the no parking sign board, many trucks and other vehicles are parked by people on the highway in a very irresponsible manner. “This is the major highway which connects the Vasco city to Dabolim Airport and Verna besides it has huge boards with the warnings of no parking.”

Meanwhile, the Vasco police stated that both rider and pillion have been identified as Shyam Sabbar, age 21 and Daud Sabbar aged 19, both the deceased youths were the residents of Odhissa, said the sources. Shyam was working as the laborer at Dabolim and Daud who is Shyam’s relative had come to meet him in Goa a few days back.

The locals have demanded the removal of all the vehicles parked on this 4 lane highway from the concerned authorities. What is your view on this incident?
