Chotu’s lawyer Advocate Kapil Kerkar told the court that there was no prima facie evidence against his client and court hence cannot even link him to the offense registered by the opponent.  He also said that his client Singh has wrongly drawn into this case. He argued that Govekar in such way has filed almost 10 to 15 cases against many from Anjuna alleging illegalities which later resulted in some establishments being demolished.

Kerkar mentioned that when Singh was arrested by the Anjuna police from his residence in Calangute it was the night of the accident which clearly reveals that he had no part in the shooting incident.

The court has ordered Singh not to leave the state and also to surrender his passport. He was arrested by Anjuna Police last week with regards to the complaint filed by Govekar who was attacked on April 11 at Vagator.
