In today’s very mean world trusting someone has become a bigger challenge as you never know how it will turn out. Here, in this case, a lady was shot by the accused with an airgun for asking her gold bangles back which she had lent to him for the purpose of loan surety.
Pawing her gold bangles to a money lender, Vinda Goankar hardly envisaged that she would be shot for asking for them back once the loan was redeemed.
According to the Times of India, Vinda Gaonkar had given two gold bangles to Amit Govekar as surety in order to obtain a loan.
However, when Goankar repaid the entire loan amount over a period of time, asked for her gold bangles back, the accused Govekar not only allegedly refused to return them but instead in the rage of anger he shot her in the head with the airgun. She is now being treated at Goa Medical College while her assailant is on the run.
Porvorim PI Vishwesh Karpe, who is investigating the case, informed that the victim had been repeatedly approaching the accused to return the gold. However, he kept giving excuses and avoiding her.
On Sunday, however, when Goankar once again met him and demanded that her gold be returned forthwith, it leads to a heated argument at which time Govekar shot her in the forehead with an air gun.
According to PI Karpe, the police have registered a first information report against Govekar under Section 307 (attempt to murder) and the Arms Act.
