THE INCIDENT TOOK PLACE ON 31ST AUGUST AT CANDOLIM IN NORTH GOA, AND POLICE HAD ADMITTED ONE OF THE DAUGHTERS OF A DECEASED INTO IPHB (INSTITUTE OF PSYCHIATRY AND HUMAN BEHAVIOUR) SITUATED IN BAMBOLIM DUE TO HER ALLEGED MENTAL DISORDER. THE REPORTS CLAIMS THAT LUCKY CARDOZO, DAUGHTER OF DECEASED, HAS TOLD THE MEDIA THAT POLICE IS NOT READY REGISTER AN FIR IN THIS CASE, AND THIS AMOUNTED IN MAKING THE DEATH OF ISABELLA A MYSTERY…

According to the reports, the daughter of a deceased Ms Lucky Cardozo had made the claims that Calangute police are avoiding the filing of a FIR in her mother’s mysterious death, and she finds it strange. The question here is, why the police are not ready to file FIR in this case when the daughter of deceased is demanding the same, and why the police had admitted one of the daughters in the IPHB?

It may be recalled that two days back a body of Isabella Cardozo from Candolim was found lying on the ground in the pool of blood, and the Calangute police had registered the case of unnatural death. But, according to her daughter Lucky Cardozo, someone had murdered her mother, and she wanted to lodge a FIR in the police but, the police is not ready to do the same. According to Lucky, she suspects the involvement of her relatives in the death of her mother.

Meanwhile, according to the Calangute Police, the post mortem reports suggests the cause of death as multiple fractures she had received on her body but, it is difficult to say if that was due to the fall or there is an involvement of a foul play. “The police did not file a FIR as they told me to wait till the post mortem reports come,” said Lucky, the daughter of deceased Isabella adding that “Although they promised me that they will lodge FIR but, when I went to find out about the same, they said that FIR cannot be lodged in this case and that they have filed an NC (Non Cognisable) report, and only after doing the investigation we will lodge FIR.”

Now according to Lucky Cardozo, the police claims that Isabella died due to the fall and it is not the murder. “Now they (Police) are calling it a mental case. But, I told them that my mother was very much mentally sound lady as I had taken her to the hospital and doctors certified her mentally sound,” she said.

Meanwhile, the post mortem reports show the detailed investigation and cause of death. According to the reports, the cause of death is a head injury (in the form of subarachnoid haemorrhage) and there are also bilateral fractures of the ribs and associated injuries to the lungs due to some blunt force impact. Now the police is an investigation if the fracture of ribs was due to the fall or there is an involvement of a foul play.

According to the report published in the local daily, the police informed that one of the daughters of the deceased had been admitted to Institute of Psychiatry, Bambolim after obtaining appropriate orders from the court. It is learnt that the deceased used to walk with the help of a walker and was not keeping in good health. The police are inquiring whether the fracture to the ribs is due to sudden fall or otherwise. The police have already recorded statements of most of the family members including the children of the deceased. A case under Section 174 of CrPc has been registered and PI Jivba Dalvi is investigating the matter.
