It looks like as if the peaceful Goa is transforming into something overly violent state with the cases of attacks and assaults coming up in the media on daily basis. The case of Merces attack is still fresh in the media and another news of the attack on the Goan has come up in the local media. According to the sources, a businessman was attached at Utorda on Tuesday night by the gang of eleven.
The sources have revealed that the attack is the result of a property dispute but more clarity, in this case, is yet to come. The ` came with the metal rods and other weapons, said the sources. They attacked 56-year-old, Alexo Pereira from Utorda with metal rods. According to the reports, the attackers also damaged the Mercedes-Benz car belonging to the victim.
The incident of the attack supposes to have taken place at Utorda near her property named Gujira on the night of Tuesday. The fight supposes to have taken place over the property dispute, said the sources.
According to the Investigation officer attached to the Verna police station, the accused Sona Elias Sairaj had lodged the complaint with Verna police station against the victim Alexo Pereira prior to the attack, stating that Pereira had assaulted him. The IO said that victim is a Bhatkar (Landlord) of the Gujira property and he had assaulted Sona Elias over some dispute.
According to the Verna police, the attack on Pereira has been carried out by Sona along with 10 others who joined him in this crime. The accused Sona is presently absconding and the names of the other attackers are not yet known. “Only after we arrest the main accused the names of the other assailants will be surfaced,” said the Investigation officer, Verna police station.
The victim, Pereira has been discharged from the hospital after the first aid, said the sources. Meanwhile, Verna police are searching for accused Sona Elias and further investigation is underway, said the sources on police.
