42-Year-Old Lady From Bandora Killed on the Spot in an Accident at Farmagudi Goa

The sources have said that her husband was riding the bike where Shakila was sitting pillion when the accident took place.

The road leading to Ponda from Farmagudi has become an accident-prone zone and the authorities do not seem to be doing anything about it. In the recent days, three accidents took place on that road claiming the lives of innocent people. Yesterday a 42-year-old lady from Bandora died after she was hit by the truck from behind.

According to the sources, a 42-year-old Shakila Shaikh from Bandora died on the spot after she was hit by the truck from behind. The sources have said that her husband was riding the bike where Shakila was sitting pillion when the accident took place. The truck coming from behind dashed the bike wherein the Shakila fell on the road and came under the wheels of a truck.

Shakila died on the spot while her husband managed to escape with minor injuries said the sources. According to the sources, the accident took place at around 12 pm on Tuesday on Ponda Panaji highway at Farmagudi. The deceased Shakila who is the resident of Bandora originally belongs to Uttar Pradesh.

According to Ponda police, Hamid Shaik, 45 along with his wife Shakila, 42 were on their way to GMC hospital to visit a relative admitted there when the scooter on which they were traveling was knocked down by a speeding cylinder-laden truck at Conem in Priol, around  600 meters from Farmagudi police outpost. The truck hit the scooter from behind and, as a result, the pillion rider Shakila fell under the wheels of the truck and got crushed, while her husband Hamid escaped with minor injuries after falling at a distance on the road.

According to the sources, after the accident took place people started assembling around the spot and everybody seemed to be busy taking the images of the deceased and forwarding on the social media. Meanwhile, someone tried calling the 108 but despite several attempts, the Ambulance and police reached late to the accident site, said the sources.

According to the sources, the police outpost is just 600 meters away from the accident spot, yet the police reached late, alleged one of the locals at the accident scene. The truck driver Arun Shukla from Uttar Pradesh has been detained by Ponda police. Further investigation is in progress and PSI Sinari is investigating the case.

The deceased Shakila is the mother of four children was a housewife. Her husband Hamid Shaikh had been discharged from the District Hospital after the first aid and her funeral will take place today, said the sources. In this accident, the mistake is the truck driver who banged on the bike from behind due to which deceased Shakila fell down on the road and came under the wheels of the truck.
