The weekend picnic turned out to be the tragedy for the family of 27-year-old Sanket Sawant from Kundai. According to the sources, Sanket along with three of his friends went for a picnic at Mavacho Guno in Sonal Village in Sattari but the moment he entreated the water started drowning.

The sources have revealed that Sanket was in the company of his three friends when the unforeseen incident of drowning took place. According to the reports, since 14th was Sunday Sanket along with three of his friends decided to go for the picnic and of them reached at Movacho Guno in Sonal village in Sattari.

The friends were in the mood of beating the heat by venturing into the water and accordingly they all entered the Mavacho Guno river to swim but while swimming 27-year-old Sanket Sawant suddenly started drowning.

According to the sources, Sanket’s friends tried to rescue him and rushed him to the nearby Valpoi Health Centre but by the time they reach the health center Sanket apparently developed the breathing problem and died.

MOVACHO GUNO WHERE SANKET WENT FOR A PICNIC ALONG WITH THREE FRIENDS

The possibility of the negligence on the account of no proper medical facility at the Health Centre cannot be ruled out as most the health centers in the state are in pathetic condition, said the sources.

According to Valpoi PI Deepak Pednekar, a 27-year-old youth named Sanket Shankar Sawant, from Manas wada Kundai, drowned at Movacho Gunno in Sonal village of Sattari on Sunday evening. 

Police conducted the Panchanama and sent his body for the post-mortem, said the sources. The sources have revealed that the river “Movacho Guno” is a very famous amongst tourists and local alike but at the same time till date, there are more than 6 drowning cases have been recorded, said the sources.
