With hardly any fear left amongst the people of Goa about the administration and police, the crime rate is going high and in one such case, a 20-year-old migrant residing at Chimbel was arrested in an attempt to murder case by old Goa police. 

Crimes in the State, especially among migrants, are on the upswing with several resorting to murder.  Very often the assailant and victims are both very young.

According to the sources, in a recent attempt to murder, 20-year-old Chimbel resident Akhil Gollapalli tried to murder 19-year-old Sundar Gawander by hitting him with a koita on the head.

In a news report, According to the Times of India, 20-year-old Akhil Gollapalli, resident of Indiranagar, Chimbel was arrested by Old  Police yesterday for attempting to murder 19-year old Sundar Gawander in the intervening night of Sunday.

According to Police Inspector Jivba Dalvi, the victim has been admitted to Goa Medical College. 

According to the police, the complainant Gawander stated that the accused attacked him on the head with a koita at chimbel when he was returning home after attending a friend’s party.

Acting on details provided by the complainant, the accused was arrested within two hours of committing the crime at Chimbel.  He is currently in police custody. An offense under Sec 307 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered.
