THE CAR BELONGS TO PROCTER & GAMBLE COMPANY SITUATED IN KUNDAIM INDUSTRIAL ESTATE. THE DRIVER LOST THE CONTROL OVER CAR, AND IT SKIDDED ON THE ROAD AND FELL INTO THE RIVULET. ONE EMPLOYEE OF THE COMPANY DIED WHILE DRIVER AND OTHER EMPLOYEE MANAGED TO ESCAPE WITH MINOR INJURIES IN THIS ACCIDENT.
In one of the saddest incident, Shailesh Gawas, 20, an employee (Trainee) of Procter & Gamble died on the spot when the vehicle he was traveling fell into the rivulet in Bicholim. The incident took place at Pawlar Bridge in Navelim, Bicholim on Tuesday afternoon, said the sources.
There were three occupants in the car when the accident took place, said the sources. The driver Patra and two employees of the company. The deceased Shailesh Desai, 20, was a trainee at P&G, and he belonged to Fanaswada in Bicholim, said the Bicholim police.
According to police, the injured person Aftab Alam Shaikh is a resident of Valpoi and he is a permanent employee of the company. Shailesh and Aftab were on their way for a drop by the company driver Nimay Patra, who is a native of Odisha. When the accident took place the vehicle was proceeding towards Sanquelim from Kundaim.
According to the sources, when the Innova car, which they were traveling, reached Pawlar bridge, the driver apparently lost the control over the vehicle, and it fell into the river after breaking the fence of the bridge.
The victim and the injured were rushed to the hospital at Sanquelim primary health center by the local police. At the hospital, Shalesh Gawas was declared ‘dead on arrival’ by the doctors, and the two injured persons were shifted to GMC (Goa Medical College & Hospitals ) Bambolim.
The sources said that Gawas died as he was trapped inside the car underwater. Meanwhile, the condition of injured persons is said to be improving and the body of a deceased Gawas is preserved in GMC morgue following the Panchanama, said the sources.
This accident is a clear case of a rash and negligent driving. The driver lost control of the vehicle due to an excessive speeding. The sources have revealed that the Innova bearing registration number GA 05 T 4000, driven by Patra, lost the control on the Pawlar slope due to which it toppled on the new bridge and came on the old bridge, and due to the impact, the concrete railings of the old bridge broke, and car fell straight into the rivulet.
