20-Year-Old College Girl Dies in a Fatal Road Accident at Assagao Goa

Losing a young child is the most difficult situation for the parents and most of the youth succumb to their injuries in a road accident which is growing in the state due to rash and negligent driving, not wearing helmets and bad road conditions. Here, in this case, a 20-year-old, final year student of St. Xavier College, died in a road accident while on her way to the College.

According to the reports, the accident took place at Assagao in the morning when the 20-year-old Apeksha Naik was on her way to the College. Her bike had apparently skidded over the cow dung on the road and rammed into the nearby compound wall due which she crashed her head on the wall resulting into her instant death, due to severe head injuries.

According to the sources, the deceased Apeksha was not wearing the helmet at the time of an accident due to which she sustained a severe head injury and finally succumbed to it. Naik was rushed to the district hospital, but the doctors declared her brought dead.

Apeksha Naik from Anjuna used to travel daily to Mapusa via Assagao to attend her college but on Tuesday her fate did not support her and she met with the fatal accident. not wearing the helmet was the major reason behind the fatality, said the locals from Assagao who witnessed the accident.   

The Anjuna Police said that the accident took place on Tuesday, when Naik was traveling to her college in Mapusa, from Zor Waddo at Anjuna.She met with an accident at Assagao, when she lost control of her scooter, which skidded and rammed into a compound wall, killing her instantly. 

Anjuna Police conducted the panchanama. The body was sent to Goa Medical College for autopsy and was later handed to the family. In this connection, the Anjuna Police have registered a case of unnatural death. PSI Vilesh Durbhatkar is investigating the case.
