In one of the most tragic incidents, that took place on a intervening night of Friday and Saturday, a minibus carrying around 17 passengers, accidentally fell into the Panchaganga river, resulting into the death of 13 passengers. The incident took place in western Maharashtra last night at around 11.30 pm. According to the police report, the bus was traveling from Ganapatipule to Pune, and while it reached on Shivaji bridge, the driver of the bus lost control over the vehicle, and the bus fell down into the river breaking the railings of a bridge.

According to police, the deceased includes 3 men, 3 women, and 7 children, including a nine-month-old baby. The police and the fire brigade were alerted by some onlookers following which a search and rescue operation was launched, he said.

The accident was so severe that 13 people died on the spot, and most affected in this accident were small children. None of them survived. The body of a nine-year-old was fished out much later, said the sources.
