The gram sabha of the village panchayat of the Anjuna-Caisua passed a resolution not to allow Sunburn or any other electronic dance music festival in the village. The meet was held after seven months on the directives of the block development officer. The previous gram sabha was held on February16. Michael D’Souza, a villager, said that the festival causes pollution such as noise, garbage and traffic jams and should not be held in Anjuna. Villagers also said that the electronic dance event was not in the interest of the village as it does not generate any income to the locals.

The gram sabha passed a resolution to not allow the event in the village. Villagers also asked the panchayat to write to all offices concerned that the panchayat is not in the favour of electronic dance event. After facing the ire of locals for not conducting regular gram sabhas deputy sarpanch Savio Almeida told the villagers that the gram sabha could not be held as the secretary of the panchayat were changing and the present secretary held two charges.
