This is the second rail accident within the span of just one month. It may be recalled that around 145 people had died and 200 injured in the railway accident at Kanpur last month due to the derailing of the train. According to the sources, the accident took place in the wee hours of Wednesday. In the accident, few baggies have fallen in the nearby canal but since there was no water a big disaster averted, said the sources. The complete details in the regards are yet to come but the initial sources have revealed that 2 have been killed and 45 people have been injured in the accident. 

The sources have said that some people are stuck inside the bogies and will be taken out soon a the rescue operation progresses. According to the sources in ANI news agency, The incident took place at about 5:20 am in the morning between Rura-Metha which is 50 km from Kanpur. Rescue teams have been rushed to the spot and the injured are being taken to the nearby hospital. However, the cause of the derailment has not been ascertained as yet.

The minister for Railways Mr. Suresh Prabhu made the announcement on the twitter that he is personally monitoring the situation and medical assistance to the injured at the accident spot. He also said that, the Ex gratia would be provided to the injured and that the government had directed CRB and other senior officials to ensure every kind of assistance.

“I am Personally monitoring the situation in wake of unfortunate derailment of Sealdah-Ajmer express near Kanpur. A thorough investigation will be carried out to ascertain the cause.Injured already started getting medical care, Doctors are attending to all. We are working with hospitals and district administration to offer all possible help,” the Railway Minister said.

According to the sources, This second incident of derailed came just a month after 145 people were killed and more than 200 were injured after Patna-bound Indore-Patna Express derailed near Pukhryan station near Kanpur. It is regarded as one of the worst railway disasters in the country. It looks like despite knowing the fact that maintenance is highly pathetic nobody seems to do anything about it.

According to the NDTV reports, A medical relief train from Kanpur has been sent to the accident site. “Currently we are focusing on relief and rescue operations,” Railway spokesperson Anil Saxena told reporters. Javeed Ahmed, Uttar Pradesh’s top police officer, said all the passengers have been brought out of the derailed coaches. Television images showed coaches lying on their sides.
